Your experience sounds like mine. With an Apple II (about 1977) with CPM card and WordStar word processing, I had the beginning of my law office computing.

Now, with Lexis-Nexis Front Office and my practice limited to representing clients seeking Social Security disability, I have a paperless office and soon to have online access to Social Security's claim file on my client. Where else in the practice of law can one obtain a copy of "the oppositions" file?

It is safe if you are sitting in the "dining room" of your RV and someone else is driving. :-) Brian

This is brilliant and paints a vivid picture of how our (professional) times have changed and why lawyers have to stop fighting some of the more exceptional changes like the Virtual Law Office.

Most importantly, though, how a lawyer practicing for 40 years has changed which means anyone can :-) And how new (solo) lawyers should start off with two feet in the future instead of facing backwards to stay ahead of the curve.

This article really spoke to me. While I do have a traditional law office, I often practice law remotely. For example, as I write this, I am heading north on I-35 at 70mph to Canada. A few hours ago, a new client called me on my cell after finding me via a Google internet search for a real estate lawyer. The client needed a durable power of attorney ASAP for a closing to take place early next week. I drafted the necessary documents on my laptop and emailed them to my new client via a Sprint laptop connection to the wireless internet. Now I am blogging about the experience. You really can practice law just about anywhere. Brian
